The DOL updated COBRA notices with details about the interaction of Medicare. Employers must include the new information on the General/Initial Notice and the Election Notice.

The Election Notice must be written in a manner calculated to be understood by the average plan participant and include all 14 items required by the DOL. The Election Notice should explain the qualified beneficiary’s COBRA rights and obligations, specify the deadlines (for election, payment, and notice), and include an election form and premium schedule.
