The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will collect 2017 and 2018 pay data (categorized by race, ethnicity, sex and job category) following a federal court decision requiring them to gather two years’ worth of information. Employers subject to the EEO-1 reporting requirement must submit this Component 2 data by September 30, 2019.
The EEOC indicate they will offer training and open the collection portal to employers mid-July. Additional information will be made available on the EEOC website. In addition to monitoring future guidance, employers should take preliminary steps to determine how to pull data from their payroll systems and be sure employees are classified correctly.
As a reminder, employers must submit their 2018 Component 1 data by May 31, 2019, which reflects an extension from the general annual deadline of March 31.
