What is a bond?
A bond in insurance is a type of financial instrument that provides protection to the obligee against certain types of risks. It is a contract between three parties:
- the principal (the person or entity who purchases the bond),
- the obligee (the party who is protected by the bond),
- the surety (the insurance company or other financial institution that issues the bond)
A bond ensures that the principal fulfills their obligations or meets certain requirements, and provides a source of financial compensation in case they do not.
What kind of bonds can I access with ExpressBonds?
The types of bonds you can secure include but are not limited to:
- Notary Bonds
- Alcohol and Liquor Tax Bonds
- Utility Bonds
- License Bonds – including Contractor, Electrician, Plumber or Gas Fitter
- Motor Vehicle Dealer Bonds
- Public Official Bonds
In general, bonds up to $25,000 are instantly approved and issued, with no credit check and no indemnity. There are exceptions, with some bonds up to $100,000 available with no credit check and no indemnity.
If there is a credit check required, it’s a soft credit pull with no fee.
What information do I need to provide?
Basic information for the Business and Owner such as name, type of entity, address, contact name, phone number and email are required. Some types of bonds may require the Social Security Number of the owner. The program does not require business financials but instead is based on personal credit of the owners.

When will I receive my ExpressBond?
The bond will be instantly issued and available for download once payment is completed. You will also be emailed a copy of the bond.
