On Wednesday, August 8th, Cooper Johnson, benefits practice leader at Valent Group (formerly S.S. Nesbitt), will be the kickoff speaker at the Birmingham Society for Human Resource Management (BSHRM) 2018 Compensation & Benefits Symposium discussing the advantages of shared wellness centers for small to midsize businesses and other innovative employee benefits solutions.

Through our partnership with Pareto Health, Valent Group is now able to offer access to a shared wellness center to our Birmingham area clients. As announced by the Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ) on July 10, 2018, a Pareto Health & Wellness center has opened in the historic City Federal building in downtown Birmingham, and Valent Group clients will have the option to participate.

“Employers offering wellness centers to their employees is not new, but in the past, it was a resource that generally only large companies with thousands of employees could offer,” says Cooper Johnson. “We are bringing the benefits of a wellness center to mid-size businesses. Now, employers with 50 to 500 employees can offer convenient and affordable primary care access. We are excited to be part of the process that will bring quality health care to our clients’ employees.”

Since on-site wellness centers are not generally a viable option for small to mid-sized employers, this health & wellness center functions as a “near-site” wellness center. Employees receive concierge-style primary care with features such as same-day appointments, on-site prescription dispensary and nutritional and other wellness counseling.

Pareto Health partners with these local business to offer this resource to employees around Birmingham, with the aim to improve the quality of health care offered to employees. Participating employers commit to a renewable one-year contract and pay a monthly fee per each eligible employee.

This will be the third of the Pareto centers to open in Alabama, the others being in Hoover and Huntsville. This location at 2024 Second Ave. N. will house the downtown center and Pareto offices for the state of Alabama.
